Business audiences are famously jaded. Now more
than ever, they are looking for something that’s entertaining,
inspiring and, above all, different. Impropera is one of those
rare solutions.
Two ways clients like to incorporate our work into
business events and celebrations are:
- A customised world premiere – a stand alone
entertainment in which we create a one-off opera, for, about
and (because your people are involved in everything that happens)
by your company.
- Operatic conference moderation – instead
of the usual, dry spoken links the punctuate most conventional
events, Impropera weave the events together with musical comments,
reflection and observation. The company moderated the 2004 London
Business Forum.
Either way this a highly interactive approach where
there’s no room for people to be bored or drift off. Chances
are they will probably be singing a chorus by the end. Even those
who can’t sing (or think they can’t).
Business as Unusual
How important is it to you that your business can
respond quickly and inventively to the unexpected? Could you use
a bit more inventiveness at work? Do you or your team need a shot
of renewed energy or just time out to reconnect with each other
in an enjoyable new way?
The ability to cope with and thrive on change is
fast becoming a central competency for the successful company.
For most of us the spontaneity is there, but underused. There
isn’t time, we’re too busy, it’s too risky,
we play it safe. Imperopera’s Business as Unusual workshops
are a chance to let your creativity off the leash and practise
some wanton inventiveness with your colleagues.
You’ll be working with the impropera team
for the day, working smoothly through the fundamentals of effective
improvisation, demystifying the skills and picking up tools and
insights you can apply directly to your workplace.
Do you need to sing well? You can leave the
need to anything well at the door. This is about getting
things more interesting, not getting it right.
Whatever level you can sing, groan or bark is absolutely fine.
Between them the members of the company have over
800 business projects to their credit. Impropera’s Artistic
Director David Pearl has pioneered the use of arts in the area
organisational inspiration, change and development (see the theothercia
for more information).
